Medication Management

Precise, closely monitored prescribing as part of a plan built around you

Medication as a tool, not a shortcut.

Medication is often misunderstood in psychiatric care. At Gentry Psychiatric, it is considered one component of a broader, individualized treatment approach, rather than a default solution.

When medication is appropriate, it is prescribed deliberately, monitored closely and adjusted, based on need. The goal is not simply to reduce a symptom in isolation, but to support the broader treatment in a way that is precise, measured, and aligned with the overall care.

Informed Management or Management with a plan

Medication management at Gentry Psychiatric is approached within the context of an ongoing therapeutic relationship, rather than as a transactional process. Appointments allow adequate time to assess how treatment is progressing, evaluate effectiveness, and make thoughtful adjustments as needed.

At each visit, there is dedicated time to review response to treatment, discuss any side effects or concerns, and consider changes in symptoms or life circumstances. Prescribing decisions evolve over time as part of the broader course of care, rather than in isolation.

Medication management may be integrated with talk therapy as part of a combined approach, or provided as a standalone service depending on clinical needs and goals. In either case, care is delivered with the same level of attention and individualization.

"Care should be responsive and individualized. I believe in giving patients what they need, when they need it, whether that means clarity, structure, support, or intervention."

Continuity by design

Follow-up appointments are 50 minutes, allowing for a more complete and thoughtful assessment of how treatment is progressing. This time is designed to support meaningful discussion, careful evaluation, and appropriate adjustment when needed.

Appointments are available in person in Carmel-by-the-Sea and via telepsychiatry throughout California. Frequency is determined collaboratively and evolves over time based on each patient’s clinical needs and stage of treatment.

Medication does not exist in isolation here.

Medication management is considered within the context of the full clinical picture. For many patients, it is one component of a broader treatment approach that may also include psychotherapy, as well as comprehensive medical and neurocognitive evaluation.

This integrated perspective: biological, psychological, social and contextual allows for more informed prescribing decisions and supports more meaningful, lasting outcomes.

Request a screening call

Care begins with a brief 15-minute consultation. This initial conversation allows for a thoughtful discussion of your needs and helps determine whether the practice is the right fit.

Screening calls are required prior to scheduling an initial evaluation. A fee applies for the screening call. Scheduling a screening call does not guarantee acceptance as a patient.
